 Software Engineer |
Mosaic ATM is seeking one full-time Software Engineer for a position in the Northern Virginia/Washington, DC Metro area.
Mosaic ATM is a dynamic and growing technology consulting firm specializing in aviation and air traffic control system development. Key clients of Mosaic ATM include NASA, the FAA, the Air Force, large Government Contractors, and major Air Carriers. This position provides challenging work in an exciting industry using a modern software environment. Job responsibilities include the following:
- Design and development of complex algorithms for application in a real-time operational environment using advanced mathematics and optimization theory
- Software design, development, testing, and documentation
- Development of new software system features and fixes for software problem reports
- Analysis and improvement of software system performance
- Some travel required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience with advanced software development, including algorithm implementation and mathematical programming, preferably in Java
- Experience in a Linux or Unix environment, as well as a Windows environment
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Responsible, self-motivated, and innovative

 Human Factors Engineer |
Mosaic ATM is seeking one full-time Human Factors Engineer for a position in the Northern Virginia/Washington, DC Metro area. The Human Factors engineer is the liaison between Mosaic ATM and customer field operators, with the responsibility of ensuring that hardware and software design meet all human engineering guidelines and consider the end user. The goal of this position is to minimize human error and to increase performance and productivity.

Responsibilities:
- Developing conceptual models, personas, workflows, design prototypes, and user interface specifications
- Ensuring that products are useful, usable, and desirable via a thorough understanding and practice of the user centered design process
- Designing product from conceptualization, detailed user interface, functional design, through implementation and usability review
- Assisting in authoring user requirements documents
- Conducting product usability tests
- Identifying troublesome components and recommending corrective actions
- Preparing and writing Test Reports for submittal to the FAA and customer
- Interfacing with internal system engineering disciplines and external system subcontractors in gathering data and evaluating HSI
- Reviewing subcontractor test plans/reports for Human Factors requirements and supporting the conduct of subcontractor test activities
- Consulting with other engineering staff to evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements of the overall system
- Interfacing with both internal and external customers
- Working with federal, state, and local regulations and standards
- Working with OSHA, human engineering, military, and commercial regulations
- Must be able to work with client to elicit, understand, interpret, and document system and user requirements
Qualifications:
- BA/BS or advanced degree preferred in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, Cognitive Psychology, or a related field or demonstrated comparable experience designing commercial software products
- 3-5 years experience in a commercial software product company
- Human Factors Engineering experience with system interface design and usability testing to define and document tasking that will assist in creating prototypes
- Ability to travel to customer sites if required
- Mastery of user centered design principles and practices
- Mastery of interaction design and information architecture disciplines
- Experience in creating wireframes, visual mockups, graphics, and user workflows
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and listening)
- Innovative, creative problem solver with an eye for detail and accuracy
- Excellent organization skills with proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and to adjust to frequent changes in project priorities
- Expertise in research methods, experimental design, statistics, and requirement’s development is required
- U.S. citizen or otherwise fully authorized to work in the U.S.
The following specific skills are highly desirable:
- Familiarity with Aviation and/or Air Traffic Control
- Knowledge of software development process
- Flash, CSS, HTML, JavaScript skills
- Knowledge of human image interpretation performance
- Experience in areas such as Human Computer Interface Design, evaluation or the development of human performance metrics and testing, and working to develop GUI

 Systems Engineer |

Responsibilities:
- Conduct analysis and design of new decision support and automation systems
- Generate requirements specifications, interface specifications, and test documents, at all levels of requirements detail including system, functional, performance, security, etc.
- Coordinate system design and requirements with customers and stakeholders
- Research requirements and interface details associated with existing systems
- Support investment analysis, including estimation of potential benefits and lifecycle costs
- Review design specifications, support system testing, and review test results
- Provide guidance and direction to system implementers regarding interpretation of requirements and design modifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering or related field; Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years experience with knowledge of avionic systems architectures and functions, systems engineering principles, and electronic systems testing procedures
- Knowledge of latest systems engineering design and documentation software tools
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Highly organized, responsible, self-motivated, and innovative

- Develops and executes test plans for complex systems
- Creates and executes both automated and manual acceptance tests using various open source tools such as FitNesse and junit
- Works with other team members to develop quality plans and processes
- Helps to drive process improvement initiatives across the organization
- Helps to select tools to improve testing process and automation as needed on projects
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three of more years of experience in software development or systems development
- Two or more years of Software Quality Assurance experience
- Possesses solid understanding of iterative and agile processes and testing methods
- Strong written and verbal interpersonal skills. Able to deal effectively with internal and external staff and customers.
- Advanced technology expertise in multiple diverse areas such as Java, .Net, C#, ASP.Net, C++, Perl, VBScript, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, XML, Windows Server 200X, Solaris, and Linux
- Able to quickly learn new technology and business areas and to apply these to new projects and products

Holidays
Company-paid holidays are as follows:

Annual Leave
Regular employees accrue annual leave at the rate of 15 days per year (5 hours per pay period) for the first three years. On the fourth year of employment, annual leave increases to 20 days per year (6.66 hours per pay period). Employees may accumulate annual leave to an amount equal to 40 days.
Personal Leave
Personal leave is accrued on a semimonthly basis at the rate of 5 days per year (1.666 hours per pay period). Personal leave may be charged at any time in lieu of annual leave. Employees may accumulate personal leave to an amount equal to 20 days.
Medical Plan
PPO family or individual medical, surgical, hospital insurance, and prescription care are provided under a group insurance plan with United Healthcare to full-time regular employees. Mosaic ATM pays 80% of the insurance premium. Employee contributions are 20% of the premium. Coverage begins on the first of the month following date of hire.
Dental Coverage
Family or individual coverage is provided under a group insurance plan with Delta Dental. Mosaic ATM pays 80% of the insurance premium for all full-time regular employees and their dependents. Employee contributions are 20% of the premium. Coverage begins on the first of the month following date of hire.
Vision Care Coverage
Family or individual coverage is provided under a group insurance plan with VSP for all regular employees. Mosaic ATM pays 80% of the insurance premium for all full-time regular employees and their dependents. Employee contributions are 20% of the premium. Coverage begins on the first of the month following date of hire.
Section 125 Plan
Employees may establish Flexible Spending Accounts, which allow payment of employee-paid insurance contributions, dependent/child care, and certain medical/dental expenses on a pre-tax basis (participation is optional).
Group Life and AD&D Insurance
Mosaic ATM provides life insurance to all full-time employees equal to one times their annual salary up to $100,000.00.
Short- and Long-term Disability
Coverage is available under a group insurance plan and Mosaic ATM pays 100% of the premium.
401(k) Plan
Employees may contribute 15% of their salary up to the IRS maximum per year. The employee is 100% immediately vested. There is a three-month waiting period.
Profit Sharing
Profit sharing contributions will be made once per year by Mosaic ATM, Inc. Past contributions have averaged 9%. Employees must meet eligibility requirements.
Bonus Program
Regular employees receive an annual, performance-based bonus. Past bonus ranges have averaged 4-8%.
Tuition Reimbursement
Employees are reimbursed 100% of allowable tuition/resource expenses up to $5000 per year. Courses must be pre-approved and completed with a grade of B or better.
Wellness Program
Mosaic ATM will pay 75% of a gym membership per year, up to $500, contingent upon a physical.
