Air Traffic Operations Data Analysis
Mosaic ATM has access to, and a repository of, numerous sources of air transportation system data including:
- Advanced airport surface surveillance data
- Air carrier Out/Off/On/In (OOOI) data
- Enhanced Traffic Management System (ETMS) data
- System Analysis Recording (SAR) data from the ARTCC Host computer
- Center-TRACON Automation System (CTAS) data
Powerful analysis tools are available for parsing, characterizing and analyzing NAS operations with this data. Mosaic ATM personnel have led a wide array of different projects using such data to analyze NAS operations in almost all NAS domains. Many of these projects have identified areas of under-utilized capacity or inefficiency that can be improved through enhanced information, procedures and supporting technology solutions.
The mission and vision of Mosaic ATM are included below to provide insight regarding the guiding principles and goals of our company.
Operational Concept Design
Improvements in air transportation are initially defined through an operational concept document. Mosaic ATM specializes in the design and specification of new concepts through development of detailed operational concept documents. Our techniques and methods start with the air traffic operations data analysis and inefficiency identification and lead to design of roles and responsibilities for users, information needs and high level system functions. These techniques have been proven in numerous projects previously led by Mosaic ATM personnel.
Systems Engineering
Mosaic ATM personnel have significant experience and expertise in rigorous system engineering theory and practice. Top-level requirements specification documents, software requirements documents, test plans and procedures, software design documents, interface requirements and interface design documents have all been produced through detailed system engineering efforts by Mosaic ATM personnel. Mosaic ATM is fully capable and experienced in both top-down development and spiral development methodologies.
Decision Support Tool Prototyping
Mosaic ATM conducts rapid prototyping of complex decision support tool algorithms as a fundamental component of spiral development. Because decision support tools provide critical information to human operators, it can be difficult to determine functional and performance requirements. System acceptance is of paramount importance and consideration in requirements formulation. However, the subjective nature of system acceptance by a human user must be converted into objective requirements for full-scale system development and deployment. By using rapid prototyping and demonstration of decision support tools, functional and performance requirements can be determined and validated.
Mosaic ATM develops decision support tool prototypes in a number of different software languages and environments including Java, C/C++, HTML, PHP, SQL, Perl and others on both Unix/Linux and Windows platforms.
